Why it is hard to get

Chef Mickey's is one of the most requested reservations at Walt Disney World. Reservations open 60 days ahead, the times most families want are taken early, and what opens after that is almost always a cancellation. Because cancelling is free up to 2 hours before, openings appear at any hour and are often gone within minutes. Nobody is notified when one appears, unless they have a watch on it.

Most Disney table-service reservations can be cancelled free of charge up to 2 hours before the reservation time. The standard no-show fee is $10 per person.
